Make a Pocket for Today

We’re usually quite good at saving something from the big occasions.

Today, try keeping a piece of the hours in between.

Make a pocket from a favorite paper. Write a few lines on a card small enough to fit: what you had for lunch, what’s growing outside, what made you laugh.

Include one detail you think you’ll always remember. Those are sometimes the first things to slip away.

Date the card and tuck it inside.

Your journal now holds a small visit to this particular day. Nothing much may have happened, but you were here, and this is what it was like.

Try This Today

Fold a rectangle of paper upward to form a pocket and glue the two side edges. Let it dry, then tuck in a dated card beginning, “One thing I want to remember about today…”
